Sherry Thompson, Ruling Elder
About Sherry
Sherry Thompson is a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and retired teacher. Sherry graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in Home Economics Education and has an endorsement in Kindergarten and Early Childhood. She taught Home Economics in Spur, Texas and at Estacado High School in Lubbock. She finished her 33 years in Education at La Mesa Elementary in Plainview where she taught Kindergarten for over 25 years. In her retirement she is a substitute teacher at Lockney Elementary School where she continues to enjoy her time with children.
As a lifelong Presbyterian, Sherry has been involved with many church activities growing up. She attended Mo Ranch growing up and has helped with the youth at First Presbyterian Church. She now is moderator of the Mission and Ministry Team and is involved with Dress a Live Doll, Snack Pak for Kids, Faith in Sharing House and Meals on Wheels.
Sherry joined First Presbyterian Church when she and Dean moved to Plainview with their son Matthew in 1991. She and Dean enjoy cooking for Wednesday Night Fellowship.
Mission and Ministry
Responsible for relating the church and the gospel to the world through study and action concerning social and economic needs and issues on the national, state and local scene; implementing and coordinating works of Christian love and mission in our community through such things as assistance to the needy and community service projects, and communicating this to the congregation.
